Once authorization has been received, the auto body specialists at our workshop will begin disassembling your vehicle. Existing parts that are still usable are cleaned, wrapped and stored to ensure accessibility further into the repair process.
Although an initial parts requirement audit is completed prior to disassembly, further parts may be required. By removing external panels and parts, an in-depth view of the vehicle may bring to light further damage. In this instance, we will arrange additional insurance authorization while your vehicle is still in the body shop.
Panelbeating / Mechanical
Mechanical repairs are usually the most sensitive as suspension items are normally involved. These parts are critical to your vehicle’s safety, so it is crucial that this work is done meticulously. The panelbeating process is an intricate one with a fine balance between science and art. Panel beating also includes chassis straightening which rests on specialized equipment prescribed by manufacturers and performed by trained technicians.
Once panel beating has been completed, the panels need to be painted. After applying a protective primer coat to all repaired panels, they are sanded / smoothed to ensure a perfect paint finish.
Prior to the painting taking place, a scientifically accurate paint mix is drawn through detailed paint codes provided by the manufacturer. The paint technicians will then match the coded mix to the existing vehicle colour, which may have faded due to weather conditions. This process is an art performed by our highly skilled and trained paint technicians. Painting will then take place in a pressured oven. The air fed into the painting booth is filtered twice to minimize dust particles. The painting process requires precision and care to achieve a consistent paint finish. After the auto paint job is complete, the panels are baked at 60C for 45 minutes, ensuring the paint is firmly set.
Now your vehicle is reassembled. This is a function that brings together the entire auto body repair process where all the parts, old and new, are refitted. Body panels are aligned and auto electrical, mechanical and all diagnostics and safety checks are completed to ensure that the integrity and quality of your vehicle is firmly intact.
Should there be damage to your vehicle that we can’t repair ourselves, for example; engine repairs requiring franchise dealership technology, wheel alignment or mag repairs – your vehicle is sent off site to the relevant auto body specialists partner.
Polishing safeguards that the newly painted panels and existing painted panels are evenly matched. Invariably your vehicle’s old paint will have been faded by the harsh South African climate. A good machine polish ensures that your old paints looks as good as the new, resulting in a highly professional auto body paint job.
Our qualified quality engineers will now check your vehicle thoroughly – from the paint finish to body gaps, making sure your vehicle meets both the manufacturer’s and our own exacting standards. Then your vehicle is test driven to ensure all safety-critical items are running as they should following the vehicle body repair.
Once our quality controller is 100% satisfied with the work performed by our auto body specialists, the vehicle is thoroughly cleaned inside and out. You will be notified of your vehicle’s completion and a convenient time scheduled to hand over your pride and joy, where your vehicle finals goes back to where it belongs – you.
